Advance is the heirloom selection of the Loquat varieties. Introduced in the late 1800's this white fleshed loquat has an almost apricot like flesh with a mildly sweet taste. As with most Loquats, Advance has a somewhat citrus like overtones to the taste as well. A more compact dwarf selection of loquat, this is a variety that works well as an accent fruit producing tree. This is a beautiful evergreen tree that features a feathered leaf with a balanced easy to maintain compact canopy. The perfect eatable ornamental for the home garden. The Advance Loquat grows with very little extra work, if you choose. Not quite as cold hardy as other varieties of Loquats in the extremes of zone 8, planting close to the house will protect the tree during the colder winter months. A wonderful patio container selection makes is a great choice for rowing in colder zones were moving it to a protected location in the fall allows those in even zone 7 to enjoy this wonderful plant. Choose a well-lit location to move your Advance Loquat to when it gets cold and move it out to a full sun location come early spring. Advance requires a pollinator but may not be necessary where Loquats are commonly grown. Consider as a pollinator any other loquat variety, for instance along with the white Advance loquat plant either a Gold Nugget of the Big Jim to add variety and abundance to you fruit selections.

Planting & Care
Loquats require full sun and good draining soil. They are mostly disease and pest free. If poor drainage is suspected plant on a mound that is 12 inches above the lay of the land. Prune as needed to control size and shape.
