Planting & Care
Lavender blooms Spring through Summer. It does best in poor soil but will tolerate any type of soil that is well-drained. Plant in full sun in a sheltered location that offers protection from cold winter winds. Likes regular water but will tolerate drought. Prefers dry climates. Other Spanish Lavenders have unusual blooms which are tufted and pineapple-shaped with dark purple flower bracts on long stems. Foliage is silvery grey-green. Grows in large mounded clumps. The flowers are attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds and are deer and rabbit resistant. Spectacular in mass plantings and containers.
