Description

Olea europaea 'Arbequina'

Arbequina olive is one of the most popular olive varieties in the world. Introduced in Spain sometime around the 17th century, this small tree with its high yielding, dark brown to black olive has been prized for its mild, buttery and lightly fruity flavor, as well as its high oil concentration. Its more compact narrow habit has made the Arbequina a top choice for high density commercial plantings. As with all olive trees the beautiful, gray-green foliage, freeform Mediterranean appeal and weeping shape make the Arbequina a wonderful landscape specimen. Once established the olive requires very little water again making it a first choice for dryer climates.
