Persea americana 'Carmen Hass'
Carmen Hass is an earlier maturing Hass like selection with one special twist, 2 crops!
Originating from the southern region of Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico the variety has gained popularity due to is ability to set fruit at a young age (precocity). The variety gains quick popularity as an off-season cropper because of its of irregular season blooms. Unlike other varieties that set flowers out of season the Carmen Hass would set and ripen an additional fruit most years, resulting in 2 separate crop a season.
Like the Hass this is an A flower type and would require a B type to provide fruit in Avocado growing regions. The colder marginal regions of zone 9 often will not require a B type to successfully set fruit.
