Planting & Care
Persimmons are adapted to a wide variety of soil types. They are tolerant of wet soils and also do well on light sandy soils. Persimmons require full sunlight and do not like to be over-watered. Once established, they can withstand considerable drought. Persimmons are easy to grow because they have almost no pest or disease problems. The trees can be kept small with annual pruning when the trees are dormant. The fruit requires hot Summers for ripening. Persimmon trees are highly ornamental with foliage that turns red, orange, and yellow in the Fall.
