One of the most well known of the American Hybrid grapes, the foxy flavored Concord grape, juicy, with an earthy sweet flavor is hardy and widely adaptable. Known as a 'slip skin' grape because of the way the skin slides away from the pulp leaving it intact, this grape is medium sized bluish-black with a greenish seeded pulp. Developed from wild grape seeds in Concord, Massachusetts in the 1840's, this American hybrid was quick to gain popularity because of its wide range of adaptability and many usages. One of the most recognizable grapes for grapes for red grape juice, the Concord is also used for jelly's, preserves, fresh eating and wines.
