Planting & Care
Plums do well in very well-drained, loamy soils. Mulching helps retain moisture and helps to stabilize the soil temperature. Avoid planting in low areas where frost may settle, as the frost will damage your trees. Plums grow best in full sun. Water regularly, at least weekly, during the first year in the ground. Keep the soil evenly moist, but not wet. Prune the trees annually in Winter when they are dormant. Plum trees make beautiful additions to a garden because they produce lovely blossoms in the Spring.
