Plant directly into the raised bed using native soil. Mulching helps retain moisture and helps to stabilize the soil temperature. mulch to 3 to 4 inches deep and out 3 feet from the canopy. All citrus likes being grown on the dry side and mulching helps keep the shallow feeder root cool in between watering's. Mandarins require full sun at least 8 hours a day. Select a location that favors the morning sun. Tree grows into a full rounded crown. Mandarin trees can easily be kept 7' - 10' with regular pruning, so they make an excellent container plant or screen tree. The white blossoms are fragrant, and showy.
