Small green fruit with translucent greenish-yellow flesh develop red blush when ripe. Adapted to a wide range of climates the Green Gage tolerates the cold and unpredictable winters and springs of zone 4 and 5 as well as ripening in the warmth of zone 9. Can take a few more years then most to begin to set. But dependable year after year after the first good crop

Planting & Care

Plums do well in very well-drained, loamy soils. Mulching helps retain moisture and helps to stabilize the soil temperature. Avoid planting in low areas where frost may settle, as the frost will damage your trees. Plums grow best in full sun. Water regularly, at least weekly, during the first year in the ground. Keep the soil evenly moist, but not wet. Prune the trees annually in Winter when they are dormant. Plum trees make beautiful additions to a garden because they produce lovely blossoms in the Spring.
