Very large, cream/white with red blushed skin, the heavenly White nectarine is one of the largest white fleshed nectarines and possibly one of the best tasting. A frequent high scoring fruit in taste tests the firm flesh has a smooth texture with the perfect acid sugar balance. The flavor is complex with tropical overtones but there will be plenty of time to contemplate as the fruit can run over 1 pound each. At its peak of ripeness the soft ripe Heavenly White nectarine is juice running down your arm good. Syrupy sweet with a unique rich flavor. Freestone and self-fruitful this hybrid from the Zaiger collection has been a popular home garden selection for over 30 years. Ripening in mid-July this is the perfect mid season choice for a series of successive ripening fruit varieties.

Planting & Care

Nectarines prefer light, well-drained. If poor drainage is suspected, consider mounding 18 to 12 inches high by 4 feet wide of build a raised bed of 12 to 18 inches high and 3 feet square. Plant directly in the mound or raised bed. Mulching helps retain moisture and stabilize the soil temperature. Mulch to 3 to 4 inches deep and 3 to 4 feet outside the canopy. Nectarines grow best in full sun in a location with good air drainage. They are very prone to Peach Leaf Curl and require spraying during the fall and winter to avoid this issue. Choose a protected location that is sheltered from wind. Water regularly, to get established, during the first year. Nectarine trees are very productive and will grow to 20' tall if you let them. Pruning in the summer to control the height of your tree is recommended to simplify Maintenance and harvesting. It is recommended to keep you fruit trees below 10 feet.
