Diospsyros kaki 'Fuu imoto'

A more recent introduction of the Fuyu type persimmon out of California. The Imoto Is thought to be a sport of the Fuyu Jiro originating from a tree of the late valley farmer Mr. Mike Imoto of Lindsey California. The fruit is a bit larger than the Jiro and comes off 7 to 10 days earlier. The attributes of the Imoto are similar to the Jiro. It can be eaten firm, and if planted alone away from other varieties of persimmons it will be seedless. The Imoto has a melon like flavor and can be used in all persimmon applications. The tree is more compact than the Jiro with the average top height being below 12 feet. The tree grows upright so maintaining this tree to below 10 feet is a breeze. Persimmons make a beautiful landscape tree because of their large dark green leaf and the tremendous orange red fall color.
