The flesh is a pale orange with a rich honey sweet flavor. most often seedless though a few seeds may occur. Often referred to as a dwarf because of its heavy production which results in a slower growing tree.

The Izu persimmon is a Fuyu type variety that is non-astringent and can be eaten when firm crunchy. A medium-sized fruit with a round slightly, flat shape, the fruit has a bright orange skin with gold orange hues. The flesh is a pale orange with a rich honey sweet flavor. most often seedless though a few seeds may occur. And early ripening variety the Izu is the first variety to hit the persimmon markets in Japan every year. Considered a dwarf variety the Izu is a very easy variety to maintain at a reasonable height. The Izu sets large crops of fruit from an early age often setting fruit the first year after planting. Great for all Persimmon usages, fresh off the tree is often the most popular, with the Izu's fruit being ready to pick early in the season. High in fiber and Vitamins A, B6, C, E and K, Persimmons are a healthy choice to include in your diet. Persimmons have very few pests and disease problems, but squirrels and birds can be a nuisance.

Planting & Care
Persimmons are almost free of common diseases and pests and require very little if any sprayings. Birds and squirrels however love persimmons and will be a concern. Plant on well-drained soil or mound or plant in raised beds if poor drainage is suspected.
