Is This Plant Self Pollinating?

Scarlet Halo Peach is self-fertile, but the fruit crop will be larger if the tree is planted with a second tree.

Prunus persica 'Scarlet Halo'

Scarlet Halo is a new and exciting exclusive donut style peach from the Burchell Nursery. A large donut-shaped peach that has deep red skin with an unusual deep-red blush radiating into the flesh. But this is not where the uniqueness stops. The flavor of the Scarlet Halo is rich with a traditional peach flavor topped off by the slight hint of plum that adds a brightness to the taste. Very sweet and Juicy flesh ,the fruit hangs on the tree just adding flavor. A mid season ripening selection, the tree is a vigorous grower that can be held to under 10 feet with summer pruning. Pair this with one of the donut style nectarines like the Snack Time for a real summer treat of flat peaches and nectarines. Self-fruitful and freestone, enjoy the Scarlet Halo as you would any traditional peach, from fresh eating to cooking and canning. the firmness of this variety makes it a first choice for grilling. You won't believe the flavor off the grill.

Planting & Care
Peaches prefer light, well-drained soil. If poor drainage is suspected, consider mounding 18 to 24 inches high by 4 feet wide or build a raised bed of 12 to 18 inches high and 3 feet square. Use native soil and plant directly into the mound or raised bed. Mulching helps retain moisture and stabilize the mound and cool the soil temperature. Mulch to 3 to 4 inches deep and 3 to 4 feet outside the canopy. Peaches grow best in full sun in a location where they get at least 8 hours of direct sunlight. avoid areas where cold air or frost settle. Choose a protected location that is sheltered from wind. Water regularly, to get established, during the first year. Peach trees are very productive and will grow to 20' tall if you let them. Pruning in the summer to control the height of your tree. Below 10 feet is recommended to simplify maintenance and harvesting.
